Pima Air and Space Museum
We highly recommend visiting the Pima Air and Space Museum. It is a hidden gem in the Tucson desert. Relive the glory and excitement of the most incredible aviation stories ever told, with more than 300 aircraft on display and a motor coach tour of the Davis-Mothan Air Force Base , called The Boneyard by locals and historians.
The Pima Air and Space Museum covers over 80 acres and is home to the largest collection of World War II planes anywhere in the world (309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group)!
This is one of those activities that is both educational and fascinating. There is something for everyone at this attraction, which is why there are hundreds of thousands of people a year who visit The Pima Air and Space Museum.
There are displays both inside and outside of The Pima Air and Space Museum and some of the most compelling World War II stories and memorabilia collections you will ever see.
Visit the Wright Flyer (the first powered aircraft flown by the Wright brothers), or John F. Kennedy’s plane, Air Force One (one of two planes he used as president – the other rests at the Smithsonian Museum). When you are done with the walking tour, head over to the museum’s new restaurant, Flight Grill, which is now open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Admission varies depending on the time of year. June-October rates are: $13.74 for ages 13 and older ($11.50 if you are a Pima County resident), $8.00 for ages 7 – 12, and kids 6 and under are free. Seniors, AAA, and military cost $11.75.
Groups of 20 or more and tours of the Boneyard only have different prices, so check out their website for a full list of rates. Sometimes you can find 2/1 coupons around town. Try a Google search before you head over there.

If you find your stomach growling after a tour at Pima Air and Space Museum, be sure to head on over to their restaurant: Flight Grill! Flight Grill just celebrated their one year anniversary! Flight Grill is the perfect spot to grab lunch or a snack while visiting Pima Air and Space Museum.
With their hand-pressed burgers, gourmet panini, fresh salads, and kid’s meals, Flight Grill is one of Tucson’s favorite restaurants!
Flight Grill is located inside the main hangar of Pima Air and Space Museum. The restaurant has large windows and a patio which offer spectacular views of Tucson’s lovely Catalina Mountains and an extensive outdoor collection of airplanes. Additionally, Flight Grill’s menu is constantly changing with new weekly specials, sometimes including tacos, Sonoran hot dogs, and smoked brisket sandwiches.
They also offers hand-scooped ice cream and an espresso bar (which we love as a pick-me-up after a walking tour!). With their friendly staff and unique Western-inspired take on traditional foods, Flight Grill is certainly a fabulous restaurant in Tucson!
