For Diamondbacks fans trapped in Tucson, it can be a long summer. Now we do have the hometown Tucson Padres at the Kino Sports Complex, a great organization that gives back to the community, but nothing compares to the big league. It seems the powers that be have finally answered your cries with the D-Backs Express!

D-Backs Express Bus

Only available for certain games, the D-Backs Express is a luxury bus chartered from the Foothills Mall in Tucson Arizona to Chase Field in Phoenix. The ride costs $20 per adult and $15 for each child under 12 years of age. The bus leaves about 3 hours before each game with its cargo of rabid D-Backs fans. You are free to bring a cooler for water and snacks and are even permitted to bring the refreshments into the game (coolers have to stay locked on the bus).

The bus can be almost as fun as the game! On our trip, The D-Backs reps on the bus hosted a raffle for bobbleheads, posters, t-shirts, and other valuable collectibles. They even showed a movie to keep the little ones occupied. The bus itself was very clean and well maintained, offering a comfortable and relaxing trip to the game.

We chose the value pack option which gave us access to better seating, refreshment deals, and even a free hot dog and soda for only $21 extra. The seating upgrade alone would cost $20, so it is an incredible deal! We were also driven to the season ticket holder gate, so entry into the stadium was simple and painless.

There are a few negatives with the D-Backs Express that I would like to point out. Of course, the benefits far outweigh the negatives, but I want to give you a complete picture of the event. Unfortunately, the only pickup location is the Foothills Mall, so transportation there can be a problem. They don’t have the bus for every game and spots fill up quickly, so you really have to sign up well in advance to secure your spot. Finally, the bus leaves when it leaves, so you will find yourself waiting on the bus for long periods of time, while others might find themselves missing the bus entirely.

Conclusion

Add everything up, and the D-Backs Express is the single best way to catch a Diamondbacks Ballgame for local Tucsonans. Parking for the game is $15 alone, so the cost savings can be staggering. Just remember to sign up early and bring a good book or movie with you for the wait; you’ll be happy you did. Have fun at the game and Go D-Backs!
